there are a couple things about this game that bring me to the point of just not being able to enjoy it. i have 1300+ hours and this is not a QQ thread, just want to bring up some things so they dont show up in gw2

1. there are 1000+ skills, 270 of those being "elite" its absolutely ridiculous. how can there possibly be any speck of balance left in this game?? when it was only prophesies, the 8 skill bar was Genius. now, it is just frustrating. just way to many skills; this game has turned into a monster skill-wise imo

2. armor and weapons. again, Genius in prophesies because you had to search for materials and perfect weapons were hard to come by. there was always that reach to become just a bit better equipment wise. now... we have 9 duplicate green weapons of every combination for every type of weapon. its rediculous.
person 1 "wow, i just found this green bow."
person 2 "HEY!! wuddaya know! i have another bow with a slightly different skin but it has the same stats!! good thing every...single...player in this game is exactly equal!"
person 1 "Yeah amen to that. plus! when im in towns nobody can even see the awesome but incredibly crapy weapon."
person 3 "Ugh, i payed 1 mil for this sword. too bad only the people in my party will notice it. but wait, i never party up with people anymore because i have heros!"
person 2 "OMG yes heros rock my world. everybody has the same heros and they turn a truly group oriented game and make it so you can play it single player!"
person 1 "Words of wisdom mate. and the best part is that even in single player gameplay you can experience disconections, lag, and good old utter boringness"
person 3 "yeah, who needs pugs anyways. pugs R 73h sux."
person 1 "yeah, im just going to play this online ROLE PLAYING GAME by myself. maybe one of my guildies will join along if they have one of 15923849823 alts who are at the same place."
person 2 "good thing he has so many alts! once he beats the game he gets to do it over and over and over again because there is no need to work for that new weapon or the best armor and there is no way to immerse into the game world. its just kill the bad guy, rinse, start over!"
person 1 "yeah, equality ftw!"

3. i really dont feel like i am playing a role in this game. what is there to do? fight? thats it, really. there are no vocations. hell i want to do some fishing, smithing, wood choping, whatever. i dont feel immersed in the game. there is no way to make up a unique story for my character. in lord of the rings online (theres a free 2 week trial if this by the way, good game you should try it out) you can really make an adventure out of making a piece of armor. one interesting thing about lotro also is that, where the armor does have stats that differ from each other, the player with the best armor will NOT be amazing. it takes a proper amount of knowledge to know your skills and when to use them and the right type of armor. but armor makes up for maybe 20% of the need. people of GW you HAVE been brainwashed we do not all need the same armor same weapons same same same. we do not need to be equal. (plus, when you mix armor sets in this game it just looks ugly. how boring we need to have the same type of armor on all parts of the character...and we get to choose from...10-11 different types of armor per class??) how is working for a piece of armor that gives maybe 15 more health than working for months on end for a tormented weapon...right there is no difference!
"wow congrats on getting your fow armor...go and join the other 1500 people with it over there..."
even the most elite of the armor isnt unique....it seems like everybody has a set.

4. dungeons. umm...WHAT? no sorry.
5. real world references. back to the RPG element. i play the game to get away from life. i dont want to be brought back to real world with stupid drakes on a plain. it seems like they go out of their way to put a real world reference.
6. economy. ways to make money. FARM. whoops farming got nerfed. okay no problem! lets try to play the economy. 5 hours later...WOOT! i bought this weapon for 5k and sold it to some loser for 10k. *gasp* wow you sure are amazing. yeah i only had to spam WTSWTSWTS 1500 times.

again, i dont feel immersed. kill the same guy 50 times. sell it to somebody. rinse and repeat. there is no auction house (even if there was, it would be 2000 of the same swords...prices would sink faster than a rock)

7. missions. if a party wipes during a mission, we should not just fail the whole damn thing. let us go back to town, switch some skills around, and go back to start and run back to were we were. all other MMO's let you do that. same with dungeons. if we lose a person, then let us go find another guy without having to start all over again!

8. the game is storyline driven. thats good. but once you finish the storyline...thats it. youcould try to do quests but all that is following the green arrow and killing the baddie. in all other mmo's there are quest arks. 15 quests all for one epic story...and there are 100's of those spread throughout the game. sure,there is no monthly fee for gw but we should still have the privilege of having side stories.

9. updates. ive spent well over $200 on this game. i want some updates. (i know nothing more for gw is coming, but im speculating for gw2)

10. just a little gripe of mine. the process of buying the bonus mission pack was hell. the in game store thought my card was a fraud. i couldnt buy from ncsoft. i had to buy it from direct2drive, but it took them close to 3 weeks to verify my purchase. SHAME on a-net for making a $10 purchase so hard

ok so yeah, i know this is very poorly written. i havent played gw in over 5 months. ive been playing some other mmo's and have come to realize that some aspects of gw are just embarrassingly bad. i know this may sound harsh, but as simon cowel says, "i need to be harsh because i want to unlock the true potential of the [game making company ^.^]"

so guys, go out and try some demos of other mmos. you dont have to pay at all, its good to experiment. all this "wow sucks boooo wow its all the armor blah blah blah" is really stupid and ignorant. i urge the players and the makers of the game to go out and experiment so that they can take the best of the concepts and make it into a super-game *lame i know*

It's better that people who do not understand the concept of Guild Wars such as yourself to stay out anyways. Go back to corrupt games like diablo or runescape, you'll be much happier there.

If it looks like a rant, and it sounds like a rant, it's a rant. You know what I did when GW started to bore me? I stopped playing. I didn't come to Guru and rant about the reasons why I currently dislike GW, or why it now bores me, or that I'm going to play Age of Conan on May 20th and be done with GW once and for all.

No, I just stopped playing.

Is it really that hard to do, and I've got some kind of iron resolve that is non-existent among Guru-ites?

if you want to play tons of time to get the best stuff, he a very little amount of skills, and cut wood for fun.......GO PLAY RUNESCAPE

I'm so friken sick of everybody QQing about guild wars, all it does is make other people not want to play or read the forums because they can't turn around without someone saying why they should quit. If you won't play, NO ONE CARES, please just leave the rest of us in peace.

Gifted is obviously just trying to be difficult. Proph was the best and alot of people will agree. Some disagree everyone is entitled to an opinion. The game got out of hand size wise in comparison to the size of everything player operated or viewed. 200,000 different things and you can only show 2. Yes there is uniqueness, but there is also too many things not unique. It's turning into a determined game. This drop I got today will drop 1 time only, but because it's something that can be altered, it may drop once, but it will appear 50 times. Also to further the argument of this thread, the lack of small upgrades or installations means everything is the same. No rare item stays rare forever, and that's the current situation. What else can i cover? can't wait to hear what you all think.

Another thing.... WE NEED UPDATES IN THIS GAME! = more fun...

yeah...i havent played for months either.
i too...just stopped playing

but i am looking forward to gw2, and if some of these errors show up in it then i think it will suck in a way.

and this is not a gw sucks rant post. i know a-net reads theses boards and hopefully one of them will come across this and hopefully i can make some positive change in the game, even if it sounds like a hate thread
